Who is eligible to register for fall TPE Virtual Placement?

  • Graduate and Undergraduate students who are seeking full-time entry-level employment after graduation.
  • Early career professionals who are looking for lateral opportunities or opportunities for advancement into mid-level roles (3-5 years of professional experience).
  • Mid-level professionals who are looking for lateral opportunities or opportunities for advancement into upper-mid-level positions (5-7 years of professional experience).
  • Mid-level professionals who are looking for leadership opportunities at the Director level or unit leader level (7+ years of professional experience).

Additionally, candidates should update their interview availability in their profile calendar to ensure they can receive and accept interview invitations promptly. By being proactive and organized in these areas, candidates can maximize their chances of securing valuable opportunities.


EMPLOYERS

Employers are encouraged to utilize this time to thoroughly review candidates, follow up on connections, and provide clear guidance on application processes along with any campus HR requirements to candidates of interest. This proactive approach ensures that potential candidates are well-informed and can seamlessly navigate the application process. Additionally, once ready, employers should utilize the embedded scheduling system to send out interview invitations to prospective candidates. By taking these steps, employers can streamline the hiring process and engage with top talent effectively.

Interview Week (8am - 6pm ET daily)

This week marks the period during which employers will be conducting first and second round interviews, typically ranging from 30 minutes to 1 hour in duration. Candidates are advised to be diligent about checking their contact email for any interview invitations and updates from potential employers. It is crucial for candidates to stay proactive and responsive during this time to ensure they don't miss out on valuable interview opportunities.

  • TPE Virtual placement is a recruiting and hiring event where employers showcase their campus, job opportunities, and staff as well as interview and hire candidates who are seeking employment in student affairs. What is the difference between the Career Fair and Interview Week?
  • The Career Fair is not an interview event. It is a recruiting event. Employers may participate in the Career Fair and not in Virtual Placement for various reasons, including having their own internal interview process.
  • The focus of this week is interviewing and extending job offers at the conclusion of the interview process.
  • Graduating students (undergrad and graduate) looking for your start in higher education.
  • Current student affairs practitioners at every level of experience who are seeking the next opportunity in your career journey.
  • Practitioners in other fields of employment with strong transferable skills who are seeking to make higher education home for the next phase of your career journey.
All employers in student affairs and higher education seeking to hire exceptional talent from a diverse pool of candidates.
  • On Career Fair day the platform officially “opens” with a day of networking, recruiting, ed sessions, and career services.
  • During the break week the platform remains open for job seekers to review employer materials and apply for open positions. Employers will review applications and extend invitations to candidates for interviews during the Interview Week. Both job seekers and employers can message each other, chat, and continue to network.
  • During Interview Week everyone logs in to complete their scheduled interviews. TPE strongly encourages employers to complete their first and second round of interviews during this week.
  • At the conclusion of the week, employers will notify candidates of the specific next steps in their hiring process.
The full event is free for job seekers but you do need to register to participate.

  • Registration for the Career Fair Only is $275.
  • Registration for the full Placement event is 475. This registration includes a credit for a 30-day job posting on TPE’s year-round job board.
  • Career Fair: Thursday, February 20, 2025, from noon - 5pm ET
  • Interview Week: March 3 - 7, 2025, 2024 from 8am - 6pm ET daily
  • Recruiters and hiring employers will be live on February 20, 2025 from 12pm-5pm ET. To make the most of this opportunity and speak directly with them, you should try to log on for as much of the live event as possible.
  • The Career Fair will remain open the following week, in order for you to brown job posting and apply for positions.
  • Interview Week is designed to allow job seekers and employers to have a more streamlined and efficient interview process (timeline). While we are virtual, you should hold flexible time on your calendar to be away from class and/or work responsibilities between 8am and 6pm ET in order to accept interview invitations.
  • Prepare your resume and cover letter: Update your application materials focusing on clarity and effectiveness. Tailor your documents to the specific positions you are interested in. Have your materials reviewed.
  • Update your LinkedIn profile and other sources/sites that promote you and your portfolio of work.
  • Reflect and create a plan: Search and apply to positions that align with your values. A values-based job search involves aligning your personal values with the organization's values and culture when exploring and applying for job opportunities.
  • Do your research: Research the participating employers and the positions they are hiring for. Use this information to create a list of the top companies that fit your career goals and interests.
  • Own your story: Prepare your “elevator pitch” to highlight the knowledge, skills, and experiences you offer as a competitive candidate. Also, be prepared to answer questions program representatives might ask you.
  • Mark your calendar for Tuesday, February 4, 2025 at 6:00 pm ET to attend the Candidate Orientation session. We will walk you through how to navigate the platform and participate in the schedule of events. You can register for that webinar here
  • First, attend the welcome session. We’ll walk you through how to navigate the platform for the day.
  • Visit employers in their booths and review their campus & department information, meet with their representatives, and ask questions.
  • Search the job board and make note of positions of interest.
  • Attend the roundtable discussions and webinar sessions.
  • AFTER the Career Fair, send follow up messages to hiring managers reiterating your interest, apply for positions that interest you, and prepare for interviews!
